From greenhorn, to the Americanization of the second generation, in a third generation concentrating its interest on the problems of the laboring men, a vision of the working world of the future. Bell has a deft, appealing touch in handling the human relations of his characters, and a good eye and ear for the minuties of background. Solid substance for a biographical novel of a family.
