INVESTING FOR A SUCCESSFUL FUTURE

A wide-based approach to financial comfort ahead is predicated on today's conditions- higher costs of living, higher taxes, cheaper dollars; on the inflationary spiral which will probably continue; and on the fact that more and more money must be put by in order to get by in later years. The factors which shape our economy are outlined- labor, raw materials, production, research, and the rising birth rate which accelerates prosperity. And common stocks are the best hedge and three types are available- (a) income (b) cyclical (c) growth. For growth, the fields which offer the most promising potential are considered-electric power, oil and natural gas; chemicals; glass; paper, aluminum; electronics and machinery- and there are some general words on the planning of a portfolio.... For the inexperienced investor, the broad, long view- certainly not as aggressive, sharp nor specific as Burton Crane's The Sophisticated Investor (Simon & Schuster.)
