THE BEST POEMS OF 1940

If one can judge from this collection, singularly little significant verse has appeared in the year past. There are 82 poems included, 42 of which are British in origin, and seem to indicate that the quality of the English writers is better than our own, although there is not, as yet, any bulk of war poetry. This collection is one of a series begun in 1922, and important in courses on modern verse, as part of a record.
