MONSTERS OF THE DEEP

A consideration of the still prevalent belief in sea monsters leads to the discussion of the possibility of their existence although no living specimen has been caught. A study of the sea as the great mother of life on earth and of the development of species from prehistoric times brings into view the discovery of the coelacanth which is evidence of earlier life surviving; a survey of the behemoths among whales, seals, squids, octopus and eels helps to prove that sightings might be true. Tales of strange things seen and later validated are based on the discoveries of the Komodo lizards and the okapi so that something like the Loch Ness creature and others reported might be found to exist. Interesting in its aquatic facts about ""inner space"" and in its assemblage of reports of great unknowns, this offers good natural history supplementary reading.
