KIRKUS REVIEW

The last in Thomas Hinkle's long line of animal stories, many of which have been posthumous publications, follows the adventures of a huge mother dog, Ring Neck, and her three puppies. Mistreated when young, Ring Neck has escaped to the open ranch ranges of the west and there she learns to accept human kindness and repays her debt with courage. The lore of the land and a knowledge of animal cunning make this solid.
