Like his previous book, Westering, this new volume captures the feel of the West, the feel of America itself, and to this Whitman-like love of a beloved country, this volume adds two dimensions:- the war and the inmazeity of time. ""Let your mind wander over America"", the poet says, musingly; and in the freest of free verse meditates on his country's past, present and future; Indians, Cornvallis, the Alamo, men returned from the war; he ranges from Greenwich Village to Wyoming. This is large, loses, rangey stuff and will be liked by the Whitman, Sandburg, Lindsay school though he has far less distinction than they. His last book was published by the Yale University Press in , and of his Sandburg said:- ""He is an authentic American literary artist, an indubitable poet of atmosphere, sail, and traditions peculiarly American... He is incurably and provocatively American.
