THE SAVANNAH

Stokes knows and loves the region through which the Savannah flows, and has projected his enthusiasm in this new addition to the fine Rivers of America series. Placid in it supper reaches in South Carolina, dark and mysterious in the gloom of cypress and giant cedar, winding through marsh-studded stretch in Georgia to the Atlantic, the Savannah spans a region rich in history and folklore, and Tom Stokes has made full use of both in this excellent ""biography"" of a river.
