THEY SPEAK FOR A NATION

A collection of letters from France (smuggled out or passed by secretly sympathetic censors) which shows what France is thinking and feeling, and how she is living. Whether free or occupied, the nation is an ""immense prison, rural and urban alike undergoing hardships and privations, witnessing the barbaric behavior of their German wardens. All classes, all ages, have contributed these letters. They reveal a faith in De Gaulle and the eventual liberation of France, a hatred of the Germans and their Vichy stand-ins, and gratitude and hope for England and the United States.
