THE MARK OF THE TURTLE

Plenty of raw blood and thunder in this fierce account of struggle between the and early white settlers on the Pennsylvania-New York frontier, centered around the dual allegiance of a young boy captured and raised by the Indians but aware of his true biological ties. As the Indians attack, pledged to keep the West free of the white intruder, Chris is brought into contact repeatedly with the cruelty of his adopted brothers, yet unlike other white men, he knows another side of their nature. How he makes his choice in the crux of a tense tale for boys, too vivid in its portrayal of violence yet authentic in its background to history.
