HOW TO GET PREGNANT WITH THE NEW TECHNOLOGY

Nearly a quarter of the population that is trying to start a family cannot do so without medical help,"" says Silber, a fertility expert whose confidence in the new reproductive technology should give hope to heretofore infertile couples. He tells how in vitro fertilization and gamete and zygote intra-Fallopian transfer techniques eliminate most of the problems caused by medical science's inability to diagnose correctly the causes of infertility. Knowing when and how to take advantage of this new technology can save infertile couples years of frustration. Silber believes that only knowledgeable patients can choose the right doctor, clinic, and procedure, and this book is crammed with the information Silber wants patients to have. He pulls no punches in exposing outdated and useless procedures. Unfortunately, though, the core here--what the new technology is and how it works--is embedded in such a welter of technical details and mind-numbing repetition of facts that only the highly motivated reader will be likely to stick around long enough to learn the essentials. A potentially useful guide, its value diminished by verbose and redundant explanations.
