Fashad, family man and drug kingpin, knows he should be prepared for the Feds because he's made a lot of enemies over the years—but what he doesn't yet realize is that his friends and family are a lot more dangerous than his foes.
Fashad's wife, children, pals and cohorts are well-versed in exactly how long it will take to clear their home of drugs and dirty money when the trumpet blows: 5 minutes and 42 seconds. Until now, all have smoothly done their parts to keep the castle safe. However, Cameshia, Fashad's wife, is sick to death of her husband's emotional neglect, and now she suspects him of a romantic peccadillo. Slowly, she hatches a plan to get revenge. Dream, Fashad's sullen teenage stepdaughter, is desperate to get even with her parents and for some strong male attention. She solves both dilemmas by dating Smokey, Fashad's go-to man, who is harboring resentment toward his boss for the nasty things Fashad forced him to do when he was just a teenager. Smokey cooks up his own scheme that will effectively destroy Fashad and his kin. Finally, Fashad's mysterious paramour turns out to not be the sexy young female thing that Cameshia imagines. In fact, Fashad is on the down-low, and his boy on the side wants to be front and center—and he is willing to do anything to remove Cameshia from Fashad's life once and for all. The countdown to a major bust has begun.
Exciting and gritty, this debut is an original thriller.
