This title is misleading, which is unfortunate, since the book is of real value and the author does, admirably, what he sets out to do. That is to write a primer for the layman who does not know how the stock market works, how to appraise the figures, how to read the charts and the reports, where to turn for supplementary information. As financial editor of the Daily News (N. Y.) he is too cany to attempt to give a formula for buying and selling; his is no recipe for getting rich overnight. He goes into the mechanics not only of the New York Exchange and Curb Market, but of other markets; some of the data he gives us is a bit advanced for the market towards which the book is aimed.
