Librarians, social studies' teachers and parents will welcome for this age group this excellent presentation of the workings of the U.N. organization. (And unquestionably many adults will find it helpful.) The analogies used in explaining the aims of U.N. are clearly conceived and interestingly developed. The functions of the body, its weapons and limitations are given due emphasis. The U.S.A. is shown as one member of an international organization for international welfare, rather than as a powerful ruler seeking national gains. In general a sound, hopeful outlook, as well as an exceedingly valuable book of factual data. An extensive index adds to its reference value, and illustrations by Norman Tate give it a lively flavor.
