BASEBALL'S GREATEST HITTERS by Tom Meany

BASEBALL'S GREATEST HITTERS

By

Publisher: Barnes

Following Baseball's Greatest Teams, this second in the ""Baseball Greats"" series reviews the careers of twenty great sluggers since 1900. In the brief biographical sketches -- concise and discriminating- the author touches upon personal history, and baseball record, but most important, that peculiar quality of skill or talent which made each star truly ""great"". The old-timers are here -- Ty Cobb, Eddie Collins, Roger Hornsby, Al Simmons, Tris Speaker -- and of course the Babe and Lou Gehrig. However, the present stars are not forgotten -- Ted Williams, Joe DiMaggio, Stan Musial and Ralph Kiner. An easy, lucid style, a minimum of ancient anecdotes and ""insides"" on batting techniques of the stars, should give this a good baseball market.
