THE JAVA RAIDS

This attempt to use a mystery format to inform teen-agers of facts and customs belonging to the Indonesian way of life is forced. It suffers from an elementary writing style and an exposition which requires Bill Clayton, a 6' 2"" transplanted Texas adolescent to ask often stupid questions which his Indonesian friends answer in full and simple detail as they aid the Indonesian army in the final roundup of anti-Government bandits. Equally forced is the attempted definition of Bill's passage from adolescence to maturity.
