KIRKUS REVIEW

Straight merchandise, in quite evident imitation of the successful miniature Golden Books (Tiny Animal Stories, etc.) -- with a playup to current interest in the title which is slimly carried out in the boxing. There are three different shadow strips and a screen which makes the figures seem to move. That's all. It has nothing to do with the nine miniature books in the box. There are two sets- red and blue. For the most part the little stories deal with animals, while a few tell of children and toys. The text is almost uniformly mediocre, the pictures are little better than chromos. And the format bears no handling- a tight binding, so that almost surely small hands will force the books open and break the backbones. A lot for the money-chief claim to fame.
