THE MELLOPS GO DIVING FOR TREASURE

KIRKUS REVIEW

Those pleasantly idiotic pillars of Pigville, the Mellops, endure shipwreck and outwit an octopus as they bumble about in diving suits following somewhat equivocal directions of a treasure map left in a trunk in the attic by an illustrious Mellop ancestor. Mr. Mellop et al are rescued. The income tax department takes most of their profits, but Mr. Mellop concludes (and little listeners will agree) that dinner with ice cream and cake is the most important thing, and that fun is enough profit from a venture.
