TONI FRISSELL'S MOTHER GOOSE

It seems rather odd to have Mother Goose without lots of pictures and quaint figures in gay colors. Apart from that, here are some attractive photographs of children- although a lovely shot of a boy sitting on a roadside fence fishing a still pond does not say ""A dillar, A dollar..."" to the youngest children. Nor does a sad-eyed, pouting child, with interesting shadows, holding a barely discernible fish make the rhyme ""1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 -, Once I caught a fish alive"". Still it is true the pictures have the same appeal of those she did for A Child's Garden of Verses, and the end pages and the cover are especially noteworthy.
