THE COMPLETE BOOK OF STUFFEDWORK by Toni Scott

THE COMPLETE BOOK OF STUFFEDWORK

By

Pub Date: May 22nd, 1978

Stuffedwork refers to ""the craft of sewing and stuffing fabric skins"" to create a raised, rather than evenly quilted, effect, and the many illustrations offered here begin with relatively tame pillows and such but quickly proceed to wittier stuff: a fantasy baby stegosaurus, appealing grotesques trimmed with feathers and beads, Claes Oldenburg's Floor Cake. General instructions for similar soft sculptures are included, and Scott has helpfully provided front and back views of the stitching plus pieces in different stages of production. Several have elaborate histories--the Polish Cookie Icon includes batik, embroidery, and trapunto--and most seem to exult in their artful uselessness. Impudent bounty for aficionados.
