KIRKUS REVIEW

Why would New York Daily News crime reporter Henry Redding get a well-bred, Vassar-schooled actress to impersonate an Eighth Avenue hooker? Perhaps because he's trying to pass her off as the moll of a long-deceased jewel fence in order to bamboozle his partner out of an $800,000 emerald necklace and the reader out of the notion that he's anything but bored.
