FOXY FABLES

Thoroughly modern, irreverent retellings of six of Aesop's fables. The lively, cartoonish illustrations, setting the fables firmly in a modern city complete with manholes, trolleys and VCRs, are the best feature of this edition. The colloquial text will be easily accessible to TV-addicted kids, but the many details with which the stories are expanded, while engagingly silly, dilute the fables' punch. Usable as an additional title for less sophisticated young readers.
