KIRKUS REVIEW

A well-rounded fusion of descriptive prose and guidebook material on Peru and Bolivia, especially for the North American tourist, by the author of Young Man from Caracas. For both countries here are facts and figures on history, geography; clothes, customs, expenses, transportation, government, education, the people, the churches, legends, personalities, mining, industry, trade, etc. The author takes the reader on tour, in Peru-through Lima, Callao and surrounding and neighboring areas, the Oraya Railroad, Huancayo, the southern Peruvian cities of Arequipa, Lake Titcaca, Cizco, Machu Picchu. In Bolivia, the same pattern prevails as one journeys through LaPaz, Tiahuanaco, Potosi, Sucre, Cochabamba. Must item for Andean bound travelers.
