A yoga instructor who wants the inner peace of knowing her student is innocent must get her hands dirty in a murder investigation.

Though her dog, Bella, and teaching yoga are her passions, Kate Davidson has decided to expand her horizons and add doula to her resume, even volunteering at the local birthing center, A Better Birth Associates, for experience. Several volunteers at ABBA are also in Kate’s yoga class, like Rachel, a nurse and yoga student who regularly attends with her teenage daughter, Nicole. Not everyone at ABBA is friendly, Kate finds, especially not Dr. Richard Jones, aka Doctor Dick, a philandering fertility specialist Kate is shocked to learn is also Rachel’s husband. While attending what promises to be an extensive tour of the perinatal unit of Lake Washington Medical Center, Kate stumbles upon Doctor Dick dead in the women’s room. The only person she sees is Rachel. Could she be fleeing the scene of a crime she committed? Kate wants to exonerate her suspicious-seeming student but can’t find anyone who hated Doctor Dick enough to kill him, even if plenty of people are happy he’s gone. The closest Kate has to a helper in cracking the case is her former enemy Tiffany, who’s been doing hours at the yoga studio to make up for some property damage she did in her headstrong younger days, just a few months back. Though the arrangement was originally the idea of Kate’s boyfriend, Michael, the two vow to keep their investigation under wraps, since Michael’s not likely to want either one involved with a murder.

Though Weber tries to liven up her lead’s life in her latest (Karma’s a Killer, 2016, etc.), she’s less focused on fun than others in the dog/yoga/mystery genre.
