YOUR WASHINGTON by Tristram Coffin

Email this review

With the following Coffin has, this souvenir survey of the buildings and backgrounds in the District of Columbia should be fairly marketable to tastes for the kind of ystic sentiment and unending ulogy with which Coffin writes. He praises, building by building and district by district- the capitol and the efforts that have gone into the making of its present day grandeur. The spirit of the greats- Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln- dominate, and the phrases are flowery. But beneath it there is a sense of the structure of the city and its parts, its development through the last century and a half, and of its cultural, educational and political achievements.
