CHRISTIAN ATTITUDES TO WAR AND PEACE

Many people felt the questions of war or peace was a matter to be arbitrarily settled by peace at any price, outright pacifism, defensive warfare, etc. September found these theses sorely tried. Here after an excellent introduction defining peace and war we study the four main types. -- Jesus, Augustine, Luther and Grotius. Then drawing conclusions the author goes on to the more modern problems and possibilities of a Christian International order. A native of Edinburgh, Dr. Scott-Craig teaches at Hobart College, studied and taught at General and travelled extensively. His is an intelligent concern that capably and sanely weighs the whole problem and will be extremely helpful to peace groups. As a handbook, to clergy, teachers and students it will be equally welcome.
