THE CHURCH'S MINISTRY

Any discussion of a union between the Anglican and the non- Episcopal churches (Presbyterian, Congregational, etc.) sooner or later encounters difficulties in the divergent views of the nature of the Church and its ministry. This has been a topic for study and discussion at every ecumenical conference including that held at Amsterdam in 1948. Nor has any satisfactory way yet been found to reconcile the contradictory points of view. This book is an attempt to find such a solution. It is based on a study of theology and church history, and is quite definitely a book for scholars and others who are seeking to find a sound theological basis for church union which will have some chance of being accepted.
