A comprehensive guide to creating iOS 6 apps.

Unknown.com—known (ironically) for its development in iOS, OS X, Safari, Google Android, Research in Motion Blackberry and Microsoft Windows environments—draws on the expertise of its developers to provide a different kind of guide to iOS 6 development. The manual’s contents and approach distinguish it from the competition. Most iOS 6 development books either focus only on a programming task, with a target audience of developers and advanced developers, or these books court the neophyte developers and provide a single path to follow, often using Xcode. Unknown.com’s guide lives up to its subtitle by providing important features not found elsewhere. First, the guide presents the big picture with multiple paths to app development, varying strategies according to funding, experience, etc. Second, it places app development in its context, discussing the business aspects of apps, monetization, advertising and marketing, getting an app into the Apple App Store, and how all of this relates to app design. (This is critical information unless the reader is financially independent and eager to develop apps to deploy only on his or her own devices.) Third, the organization allows the reader to easily find and pick out the material that applies to his or her situation: The reader can read the book linearly from “Getting Started” to “Choosing a Development Option” to “Submitting Your App” and finally, to “After the Upload.” But, clearly, the reader can also head straight to the Xcode guide or to many other options.

A smart, well-organized guide to iOS app success.
