From a Tuscan hill town to a Pacific Ocean community was a long stretch for small Nino, who was introduced in the story of last year which bore his name. This second volume continues his adventures in becoming an American boy, somewhat typical adventures of many good Americans in their immigrant boyhoods. (And doubtless following closely the author's own boyhood -- his introduction to the California which claims him today). I felt the lack of color of the earlier book, but this has more action, and the American background may increase its general popularity.
