PEETIE, THE PACK RAT and Other Desert Stories

Centering about a lively little pack rat, these stories set in the South-Western desert present a cast of lively, indigenous animals. A sparrow, a centipede, a melancholy burro, a coyote, a shrewd road runner and a sage old Gila monster play their parts in the comic episodes, many of which contain the wisdom of legends. A good feeling of locale, a light irony, and illustrations by the Navajo artist Andy Tsinajinie permit the characters to speak with human voices without losing their animal integrity.
