On becoming a mother, on being a mother- or a father, on the first day of school, or flying a kite, on the solidarity of the family scene, etc., etc.- all these sentimental commonplaces have recognition value for the kind of household where Mother is Mama and Father says Son. The literary level is not much higher than the Mother's Day greeting card inscription- the occasion which suggests the most obvious market.
