THE KIND OF GUY I AM

..... is a pretty determined kind of Irishman, who realized an ambition when he became a policeman, pulled some bonehead plays in his rookie days, made good on special squads and came a cropper as fall guy in the political feuding between Hylan and Walker. Tried for perjury and extortion charges and defended by Fallon, he was next railroaded on a homicide charge that was changed to murder and, as a cop, knew the bestial hatred of the other Tombs inmates. Again a clearance but there was a long pause before he could rejoin the Force, to begin at the bottom and work his way up -- to a Captaincy. There are whores, racketeers, gangsters, liquor law enforcement during Prohibition, precint problems, sprint racing which led to his part on the 1928 Olympic team, a first and second wife who were rewards in themselves, all part of a New York policeman's outspoken story as is the picture of a big city's lawless elements. Racy and robust this is shop talk with a most personal angle for a definitely masculine audience.
