FOOTPRINTS OF THE DRAGON

Another in the same series, but the focus, the accent is different. Here the story of the building of the Union Pacific Railroad seems to take precedence over the picture of the Chinese in America, though the story is told through the adventures of Hip Wo, a young Chinese orphaned by bandits and sent by his Senior Uncle to America to work on the road gang. Bewildered by the strange land, he is a hard worker, an earnest intelligent lad and makes the most of his opportunities as he makes his adjustments. The story never lacks for incident and adventure, as Hip Wo works towards his goal, enough money to own a shop of his own. One of the best of this series.
