KIRKUS REVIEW

A companionable family story solves a small town mystery to the satisfaction of all concerned. At a loss for a place to have their dramatic club rehearsals, Tony and Cherry Parker and their friends, Lynn and Bentley, begin thinking about their former neighbor, Captain Gabe, and the will he made for his rather large estate. The kids are mystified when they notice lights in the Gabe house, knowing that his foster son, George, still has a tour of duty to complete in the Navy. When the clues add up, it is George who has come home- in secret- as the present will allows no one in the house until a certain period is up. George's search, however, uncovers another will, the correct one, and, with the inheritance now his, he lets the kids use an old showboat on the estate for their shows. Innocuous.
