THE YEAR GOES ROUND by Vasiliu

THE YEAR GOES ROUND

By

Pub Date: March 27th, 1964
Publisher: John Day

Vasiliu's whimsical art work has brightened the barren pages of adult fiction and non-fiction by such top selling authors as Paul Gallico and Ilka Chase, among many others. His last book for children was Everything is Somewhere, which enjoyed a bigger than usual bookstore sale. This book should gain a head-start in bookstores from the adult recognition-value of the illustrator's name and well-known technique. However, it is not as good a book as the previous one. Vasiliu's year goes round with a series of vignettes of seasonal activities. The familiar miniscule figures are set against backgrounds of solid blue for the most part. Some are ""colored"" in harsh primary tones. The captions supplied are rather fatuous -- ""Summer is a treehouse. / Summer is no school"" or ""Spring is a bee/But a bee is also summer."" Perhaps another bookstore bonanza for the brand name.
