DR. LENDON SMITH's LOW-STRESS DIET

Muddled nutritional advice based on tenuous connections between stress and diet. Smith (Feed Your Kids Right, Feed Yourself Right, etc.) mixes two messages here: first, stress can result in altered and unhealthy eating habits; second, certain eating habits can cause stress on the body. He provides standard tips on developing healthier reactions to stress, and on eating foods and nutritional supplements that help the body fight stress (vitamin C and the Bs, for instance); he also offers pointers on discovering and eliminating possible allergy-causing foods that place an added burden on the body. The advice is presented in Smith's convoluted, roundabout fashion--but the end result is a reasonably healthy regimen. Separate remarks on stressful occupations--every type of work is included eventually--add bulk without substance. For Smith fans only.
