Friends plumb the depths of their relationship.
Mini the elephant loves two things: plums and winning. She’s eagerly anticipating an upcoming cooking competition, where she plans to enter her prize-winning plum pie. Checking her ingredients, Mini counts nine plums; her pie requires 10. Luckily, her BFF, Milo the rabbit, grows plums; Mini’s certain he’ll give her one. But Milo’s been waiting weeks for his last remaining plum to ripen, and he intends to eat it. Mini tries persuasion, to no avail; Milo wants what’s his. Miffed that Milo’s “not being a very good friend,” Mini is dismayed when the store’s plumb out of plums. When she attempts to steal Milo’s plum, Milo catches her. As the two tussle, Milo’s plum is smashed. Mini apologizes, and together they find a way for Mini to enter the competition after all. First published in Australia and starring the likable characters last seen in Elephants Can’t Jump (2025), this sweet story suggests that even good friends sometimes face challenges, but conflict can be overcome when they talk through their differences. The softly colored, carefully composed digital illustrations present personable, sympathetic protagonists, with ample boldfaced type incorporated into the artwork for dramatic effect.
A delightful charmer about how friendships can blossom through compromise.
