THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE WASHINGTON

By

Publisher: Putnam

Social life in Washington before the War and during it, by the daughter of New York Representative Sol Bloom. Bits about people in politics, bits about parties, bits about calls and a whole lot about the intricacies of the laws which govern the social behavior of the officials and their families; who calls on whom, where they sit at formal dinners, how to get into the ""embassy set"", that elite of Washington society. Too bad Miss Bloom takes herself and the ""rat race"" she pictures so seriously. Someone could do this with tongue and cheek and make it palatable.
