KIRKUS REVIEW

Another volume in a popular series that always seems to me difficult to place on age level. In format, it is a picture book (and the pictures -- all but the jacket -- are particularly good this time); the text is mature, and certainly beyond the interest level of the first and second graders -- and would appeal to third and fourth graders only when introduced by an adult. The content supplies background for the popular Indian and cowboy and pioneer stories, and can be presented as such. Well written.
