TWO OF A KIND

A fine follow-up to Swamp Water which deserved a better sale. This is a direct, dramatic, tensed story of a derelict and his dog, Judas, a black-hearted, bullheaded killer of a hound. Duff trains dogs well and gets a job with a veteran pointer fancier, Hawthorne. Two girls both love Duff. Much of the hold of the James Street dog stories, less sentiment, more brutality, and a decisive fascination, with its field trials, kennels, and the rivalry between two potentially great dogs.
