MEXICO REBORN

By

Pub Date: Oct. 3rd, 1939
Publisher: Houghton,Mifflin

The author is the wife of a Mexican doctor and so she knows Mexico as neither the tourist nor the special investigator knows it. She sees -- and reports -- the effects of the successive regimes on the inhabitants. She covers the arts, agriculture, status of women, education, personalities, -- and the pot pourri emerges as a pro-Mexican viewpoint, with danger signals in the penetration of German, Italian and Japanese influence. Optimistic in high points, terroristic in low, and readable throughout. She believes, after all is seen and said and done, that Mexico is pursuing the course best adapted for Mexico's future.
