The love of two women for one man charges a romance on alternating current, and Mazatlan, Mexico- and south to the Galapagos- adds a certain tropical glamor. Glenn Hammers, disowned by his family and discharged by the Navy, is beachcombing in Mazatlan where he attracts the interest of Tracey Cowles, an oil heiress with a titled husband she is ready to discard, and with a restlessness and recklessness which matches his; but he also wins the more subdued, more submissive love of Vida, an Indian girl. Tracey tries to buy him with a $5000 boat and a cruise which ends in unpleasant incidents- notably the death (or murder) of her husband. Glenn returns to Vida, and an independent enterprise in shark liver oil, marries her when Pearl Harbor takes him back to active duty. He returns from the war, without his sight, to the son Vida has left him- and to Tracey... Reasonably and reliable rentable.
