Announcement was made of this in the October 1st issue (page 286) and prior to that in the August 15th issue (page 200), where An Introduction to Pareto was reported (Homans and Curtis --Knopf). Postponed from November. The introduction seems to us to be an essential before plunging into the four-volume work of this great sociologist. Send for prospectus and sales talk from the publisher, and pass it around to your staff. Pareto's function in sociology for the layman is ""to determine the respective shares that thought and sentiment, the rational and non-rational, have had in human history"". He provides an implement for the thoughtful minority to use with the great majority.
