YOU CAN TRAVEL WITH CHILDREN

Disproving the Benchley bon mot (you can travel first class, second class, or with children) Mrs. Weingarten has found that children (anyway hers), like sherry, improve with travel and even have their assets (they're marvelous money convertors, ice breakers, etc.). If travel with children does mean the overcrowded summer season, less strenuous sightseeing, it has its rewards- and it is important to try to take time off at beaches (a list included). Mrs. Weingarten's general perspective of travelling en famille and for the most part with economy is personal and gay and while by no means a specific itinerary, has lots of helpful guidance on travelling by plane-ship- or car; clothes, local transportation; medicines and plumbing; food (""hot dogs au vin""); accommodations- from castles to abbeys to inns; sight (children don't respond to scenery) and sites, getting away from them (schools and camps for a week or month; babysitting services; etc.); shopping, and so forth. It is all diverting and inviting.
