Taking off on The Night Before Christmas, the Christmas Cookie Sprinkle Snatcher steals the sprinkles from every pantry in town, then flies home ""to snatch forty winks."" Comes the morning--universal dismay: ""The Chief of Police/ says with a sob,/ 'The Christmas Cookie Sprinkle Snatcher's/ pulled this job!/ He's got super power- /He's some kind of mystic--/ I'll never catch him--/ Let's be realistic!'"" But little Nat, following his trail (of dropped cookie sprinkles), shames him into making restitution by sprinkling down sprinks on all the fresh-baked Christmas cookies. The lesson is a little pat, the look a little garish, but the antics (something of a steal from Dr. Seuss) will probably tickle kids even if they irritate some adults.
