THE NISSE FROM TIMSGAARD

If you have never heard of a nisse, Jensen and Olsen are just the pair to introduce the elfin little red-capped fellow who lives on a Danish farm, bringing good fortune if he is treated properly. Tim is a particularly tricky and resourceful nisse who makes friends with Sorn, a young farm worker, helps him become steward of Timsgaard by performing impossible tasks (Rumpelstiltskin style), and finally moves with him when Sorn gets a landholding and a wife of his own. Tim snitches from the Tamstrup barn, picking up a few stalks of grain which become whole haystacks before he gets them home, engages in an epic duel with Tam, the nisse from Tamstrap, and generally behaves in such a way as to make him an agreeable member of the folklore company.
