This is the most successful book in this field that has come my way. There in no negative suggestion of being afraid of the dark, but rather the positive suggestion of all the nice things that happen after dark. The prose has a lyrical quality -- almost scanning -- and never slips into too sentimental a vein. And the pictures by Marjorie Thompson are enchanting. They are simple, bold in coloring, and have a quality of depth so that you feel almost as if they stood out from the page. It is a wholly delightful book, charmingly done, and with that comforting sense that one needs here.
