PLAY: A Happy Nursery Book by Virginia Parsons

PLAY: A Happy Nursery Book

By

Publisher: Doubleday

The play activities depicted are those of small children everywhere-- bouncing balls, skating, jumping rope, etc. The imaginative games of ""house"", circus, orchestra are here too-- all crowded with elaborate equipment. The children look like at and button-eyed Campbell Soup kids and in the colored pictures their round red heeks indicate either a positively frightening good health or a shameful state of happing. The caption lines are inane repetition of the pictures and the last page showing two children reading is used as advertising space-- a clear display of two previous Happy Nursery titles. At the unfortunate level of the supermarket book trade.
