THE DOLLAR GOLD PIECE

By

Publisher: Farrar & Rinehart

The story of a boom town, as Kansas City, Missouri, in 1887, epitomized a period of money on the make, out to conquer society. There was a real estate boom and business knew no rules; women conformed as necessity demanded and ruled in their own way. Politics and ambition hand in hand put. Leona's marriage on the rocks, but eventually the wheel turned, and Leona, betrayed by a man unworthy of her, takes over her dead father's business, loses her fears, thrusts the two she had trusted from her home -- and turns hopefully to the future. (Reported originally for January publication.) More female than male appeal -- detailed but not conclusive.
