The finer points of decorating with houseplants--getting rid of glare and a lineup at the window--are illuminated in this enthusiastic guide. In suggesting plants for specific kinds of decor, the authors consider the size, shape, and color of the plants and the overall tone of the setting. The Elberts are still firmly in favor of artificial lighting (they did The Indoor Light Gardening Book) although here they cut out the intricate mathematical calculations and concentrate on attractive fixtures or inset ceiling lighting with one eye on the electric meter. They offer a large list of recommended species, and include reliable sources of plants, lighting equipment, and gardening supplies.
