Lasi Lathan could hardly wait to board the plane for her summer vacation at home in her native Hawaii. The news that cousin Priscilla from Greenwich, Connecticut, was to share her Kona summer came as quite a surprise, but Priscilla's snobbish attitude toward Hawaii, her prejudice against Lani's Chinese friend Johnny and her domination of Lani's privacy came as an added shock. Tina and Tim, the younger Latham twins, are equally disappointed and demonstrate their feelings by running away. But it is Johnny's friendship that makes an inroad into the girl's prejudice and Lani's eventual friendship that causes a basic change in Priscilla's character. A story which drums home familiar points boasts a most delightful setting of unique terrain, climate and wildlife, of delicious food surprises and a host of international characters. Pleasant reading.
